BUILDING DESIGN

You are here:  Services > Architectural Design > Building Design

At Parsons & Whittley we are experienced in all aspects of building design. We pride ourselves in producing building designs in a collaborative manner, listening carefully to the brief and taking careful note of the client's requirements and aspirations.

The process is an inclusive one, whereby we will interpret initially the client's requirements in a simple sketch form which will be sent back to the client allowing sufficient time for consideration and understanding of the project as it develops. This collaborative method of working is designed to bring forward a building which suits the client's needs and not the needs of the designer.

Some in this profession can rightly be accused of arrogance in design terms but at Parsons & Whittley we are only interested in producing a building design which suits the client's needs, and will eventually stand a realistic chance of proceeding. Of course we will advise, guide and make suggestions to the extent required by the client, but we will never lose sight of the fact that it is the client who will pay for the building and wherever possible we will endeavour to deliver precisely what the client wants.

The sketch stage of the design is intended to provoke discussion and to enable a dialogue between client and designer. Within reason we are happy to revisit the sketches as often as necessary to ensure a satisfactory building emerges, with the normal proviso that significant or frequent changes of mind by the client will incur additional fees. However in our experience this is rarely the case and the sketches will normally form the basis for more detailed exploration of the ultimate design.
